Diane Lamison (left) and Tomy Crocamo (right) will compete in the Area 22 contest. Two of White Rose Toastmasters’ finest are headed to Hanover after winning in the recent Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest. Tony Crocamo of Mount Joy won for Humorous Speech and Diane Lamison of York won the Table Topics component of the contest. For the Humorous Speeches, contestants have to give a cohesive 5-7 minute speech that is both engaging and entertaining. Table Topics puts a contestant’s quick thinking and improvisational skills to the test. Contestants have 1-2 minutes to answer a random question on the spot with no advanced preparation.

Tony and Diane will join representatives from other Toastmasters clubs in York and Hanover to compete in the Area 22 contest on Monday, September 22, at the Hanover Hospital Wellness Center in Hanover. The doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the contest begins at 7:00.

The White Rose Toastmasters club recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of their founding at the West Manchester Township building in York. Current members of the club were joined by several former members in celebrating the club’s silver anniversary. Breaking from their normal meeting format, the club opened the floor to anyone who wished to speak about their experience with the club over the past 25 years and how they have benefited from the Toastmasters program. The club also presented a special award to their charter member, Carl Jacobs of York, who founded the White Rose Toastmasters club in 1983 as part of the requirements to achieve Distinguished Toastmaster status, the highest level in the Toastmasters program.
